The Book of Eli = Movie For The Times

Just saw "The Book of Eli" today. One of the best movies of our time as far as i'm concerned.

The Hughes Brothers did a wonderful job expressing themselves in this film while showing the underlying power of God and how faith can overcome any obstacles.

The film depicts the world as we know it, completely demolished and bare from "the flash" that scortched the earth, and a war that left nothing but bare necessities. Material items and neccessities like food shelter, and water once taken for granted were now necessary for survival.

Eli (Denzel Washington) is a survivor, walking west to bring a Bible to a place unkown on the west coast where it is to be protected and used to restore what is now the end of humanity. Along his God instructed path he encounters theives, cannibals, prostitutes and desperate survivors at the edge of life trying to get "The Book," which is perceived to help restore what now is a wasteland.

I found this to be extremely inspiring considering the state of the world today. This is what film should be in its most abstract and relative form. The underlying theme of The Bible that this film displays in a futuristic setting is refreshing in every sense of the word. Through all of the ills and evils of our time both past and present, one thing does remain constant. God can empower and restore all of us if we make the choice to live in his name. AMEN...and your welcome.
