It's one thing being alive to witness the 2008 Presidential Election, it's another to actually be on ground zero with supporters of all ages from babies to the elderly. The Grant Park rally in downtown Chicago for Barack Obama was truly an amazing experience that I shall hold close to my heart for the rest of my life. Seeing emotions of joy, relief, and excitement all at the same time during the announcement of Obama's victory was a sight in itself. There was almost an erie vibe underlying the night with unsure cheers and celebrating during certain moments when polls were counted and announced over the megascreens. It was almost a scary and nerve racking wait until the final announcement was made with the crowd clutching loved ones and friends, anxious pacing, and a stare from everyones face resembling a deer in headlights unsure of what the next moment was going to bring. However, this is our reality, and true proof that the American people do have a voice and large role in the future of the country and the world. Wow!
